Career Management International has developed a unique, on-line tool to address a variety of student, employee and organizational career and human resources requirements. Based on proven CMI instruments, this easy to use program provides solutions to many of today's (and tomorrow's) career alignment problems. Following are some uses of the CAP: Self-Assessment Tool: the CAP is designed to enable students and employees to define their strengths in terms of three sequentially tabulated colors from a total field of seven. Participants receive their ordered colors based on input concerning their interests, abilities and work style preferences. On average, individuals complete this profile in twenty minutes. Career Alignment Process: key words in curricula, job descriptions and job postings are also analyzed by the system with the outcome depicted in the three ordered colors. Participants may then match their strengths to appropriate courses, career fields or specific opportunities. If the colors match, the opportunity should be pursued; if not, other options should be considered. |

Individuals may register themselves into the system, using an employee identification number or social security number, for one-time or repeated access. Used effectively, the CAP allows students or employees to focus on areas in which they may maximize their skills, thus providing success and optimal return on investment for the organization. |

Outreach Tool: the CAP may be used by educational institutions as a vehicle for outreach to the business sector. Employers may now interface with schools by sending actual job descriptions versus generic information and receive feedback concerning individuals who best match the opportunities they have available. Linkage to Higher Education: the program may also be used to compare curricula from different educational institutions. By using the strength coloring components of the CAP, students may determine which courses offered at secondary schools which logically lead them to appropriate courses in technical schools, colleges and universities. Similarly, students may compare curricula between technical schools, two and four year colleges and universities. Human Resource Tool: the system is also able to utilize the strengths information provided, along with the job description data to generate career matches which may either go directly to the individual or to the human resources area for review. The CAP therefore becomes an excellent adjunct to the career and succession planning process. Gap Analyses and Redeployment Tool: Of equal importance is the use of the CAP during times of redeployment. As companies go through periods of mergers and acquisitions or are making decisions whether or not to invest or divest from certain product areas or are simply aligning their work force, it is important to understand the innate strengths and skills of the existing work force as well as the requirements for the future. The CAP enables organizations to perform skills gap analyses of their current and future work force requirements. In this environment the CAP serves to assist the organization in determining where excess skills exist and where new skills need to be acquired. Job Descriptions and Curricula: An additional application of the CAP is its use as a tool to review existing curricula or job descriptions to ensure that the language being used matches the characteristics of the task. When used as a curriculum or job/task description analyzer, the CAP enables schools and organizations to rapidly determine if the language in the outline or job description is commensurate with the job title. Thus, the CAP quickly enables educational institutions and companies to make sure their curricula and course descriptions and job/task descriptions say what they mean. |
